We were honored last year to work with The Disco Biscuits on their 2010 NYE poster for the Tower in Philadelphia. After the success of the 2010 collaboration, we welcomed the opportunity to work with them again. Just like 2010, we turned to our cohorts in poster crime T-Bone & Aljax to whip up something tasty. In the blink of an eye those lovable twins turned an architectural art piece inside of the fantastic Auditorium Theater in Chicago, IL into one bad ass 2-color (with metallic gold I might add!) masterpiece. The print run was limited to 250 pieces and is available for presale by the band and for sale the night of the show. Starting January 1st 2012, you can also pick it up here! We have been sitting here in the ABNRML office debating what is our best poster yet. Dozens and dozens of prints decorate the walls so it is pretty easy to scan the countless great prints we've screened over the last few years. Up until now it was a four way tie between the latest Lotus, the Ween 'Fast Food', BP's Bowery and The Duo from way back when. This one may just take the cake! This fantastical 4-color print was produced by ABNRML, designed by T-Bone and Aljax and screened with love on white 19"X25" French Paper cover stock. This extremely limited edition print is presented by Live Nation as a commemorative gift to the band for The String Cheese Incident's performance at The Tower in Philadelphia, PA on December 1st, 2011.

Flashback to 1990! Our artist was doing some heavy house keeping and came across this old folder from 1990 and ABNRML's Los Angeles days. Night of the Living Dead! ABNRML used to print a lot for huge Hollywood premieres. These old files are really neat because sometimes you get a glimpse of how things worked decades ago before art files were zipped up and shot through cyber space. We have seen old screen films and positives like this from Superman, Aliens, Batman, Terminator 2 and a few others. This little Halloween appropriate package was a nice treat so we thought we would post it! Happy Halloween!

Dean (Ween) hosts a charity baseball game in New Hope to benefit the American Cancer Society. It features an opening anthem by Gene and a host of other music buddies pitching in throughout the event. Live Nation contacted ABNRML for a last minute project as a gift to Band of Horses for swooping in and covering a cancelled date at the TLA in Philadelphia. Kings of Leon abruptly canceled their tour and several key shows were filled by other bands in and effort to pitch in and help out. Philadelphia music fans were treated to a surprise performance by Band of Horses in place of Kings of Leon. The show sold out very quickly and Live Nation wanted to give the band a very special gift. ABNRML turned immediately to our poster cohorts T-Bone & Aljax to whip up a quick print. With lightening speed they churned out this wonderful 12.5"X19" 3-color design. This was a very special opportunity and print for ABNRML. Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie, The Poster Service) has been one of our favorite writers for a long, long time. We have seen several Death Cab for Cutie shows and were thrilled at the opportunity to print a poster for their performance on August, 5 2011 at the Mann in Philadelphia, PA. The show was supported by Frightened Rabbit who we have also collaborated on prints with. The print was designed by Joe Castro of Red Attic Studios. Grace Potter & The Nocturnals have become a large national act over the last few years. ABNRML is happy to help fulfill their poster needs and have partnered up with John Warner of J Dub All Stars to print some larger runs of these two prints. We are not entirely sure who the actual artist is but John cleaned it up and got it ready to print. One of the 2011 Summer Tour posters is a 5-color print on yellow French Paper cover stock. Big Audio Dynamite (BAD) is comprised of some great musicians but one of them happens to be Mick Jones from The Clash! It is no secret that we here at ABNRML are rabid Brothers Past fans. The Big F'n Boat Cruise was one of our first real posters and was really embraced by the band and the fans. We followed that print up with a beautiful print for The Bowery and a TLA print for their epic New Years performance and the last time they played at the venue. We are very pleased to offer this fourth art collaboration between Brothers Past and ABNRML. T-Bone and Aljax stepped up and designed this fantastic design for their performance at the TLA on March 26, 2011 with Somata and DJ Everyday. T-Bone & Aljax 'Queens of the Stone Age' Posters

Our good poster buddies T-Bone & Aljax had the opportunity to design a series of three posters for the legendary Queens of the Stone Age! They seized the opportunity and banged out (no pun intended) three sexually charged prints. Each was printed with love on 19"X25" French Paper cover stock. An edition of 150 prints were screened for each design. The first one is for the bands performance at Workplay in Birmingham, AL. It was a three color print with glorious halftones on black paper. The result.

The second poster in the Queens of the Stone Age series is a really neat print for their performance at the Center Stage in Atlanta, GA. The white paper border and bright colors truly need to be seen to appreciate. In this 4-color print, Tony and Alan once again utilize halftones to achieve some very jaw dropping gradients. The act.

The last print was also screened on black French Paper. It is a 4-color print for their performance at the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. It will be available with the rest of the posters at the shows. The attraction.

The latest two ABNRML prints are pretty special. It is the first time we have created a set of posters for different legs of a tour, as well as the first time we have two prints that connect together into a larger poster. These two prints are for the Lotus shows in both NY and DC and are printed and produced by ABNRML.com. We commissioned the help of Philadelphia artist and ABNRML cohort Joe Castro. Each print is screened on heavy 12.5X25 midnight blue French Paper cover stock. They are both very detailed 3-color prints and together they span 50 inches on a wall! This print is for Robert Plant and The Band Of Joy and his sold out intimate performance at The Tower in Upper Darby, PA. This poster was printed on black 19"X25" French Paper cover stock that was cut down by hand to 19"X23". One of the color layers used a color bleed / fountain technique which allowed us to screen a blend of purple and blue with one pull of the screen. It was an amazing technique I'm sure we'll use again with future prints. This poster was an extremely limited edition and an exclusive print for Live Nation.

2011 is an important year for Abnormal Tees. It is our 30 year anniversary! ABNRML started in Los Angeles in 1981 and has been printing for the last 30 years. Some of our printers have been around since the beginning. To commemorate this important achievement, we commissioned an art print from Joe Castro of Red Attic Studios. Joe came up with a 'from rooster to rabbit' theme from the Chinese zodiac symbols. There is also 30 ABNRML stars on each print. The print is also reversible so you can sport the rooster or the rabbit, depending on whether you are feeling like the 80s or more modern! This 3-color print was screened on extremely special patterned French Paper with some metallic gold and measures 12.5"x19".

Some time ago we had the pleasure of seeing an intimate performance by Sufjan Stevens at Johnny Brendas in Philladelphia. The show was very small and featured Sufjan exploring some new material and a new sound. It was one of the top ten concerts we have ever been to. Last night ABNRML had the pleasure to see Sufjan Stevens at the Academy of Music featuring his fully realized new sound with his 13 piece touring band. His new material was accompanied by stage theatrics, horns and dancers. This poster was an exclusive print for Live Nation promotion and as a gift for Mr. Sufjan Stevens himself. It was not for sale to the public. A very small amount of these are for sale now through ABNRML. A limited edition of 40 prints were screened. It is a 4-color silk screen on French Paper cover stock designed by T-Bone & Aljax and printed and produced by ABNRML. Do you like indie films? Do you like M.Ward? If you like indie films you probably know actress Zooey Deschanel from roles in Almost Famous, Yes Man, The Happening and Elf. MWard is an accomplished artist and producer who has released several fantastic solo albums and also teamed up with Conor (Bright Eyes) and Jim James (My Morning Jacket) to form the recent super group Monsters of Folk. Together, M.Ward and Zooey make up She & Him. ABNRML was lucky enough to produce this print for She & Him's show at Penn's Landing in Phildelphia on 7/9/10 for Live Nation and the band. We enlisted the help of Philadelphia based Joe Castro to bring this 3-color print to life. It is printed on 19"X25" mint French Paper cover stock. 100 of these babies were produced, 50 are available at the band's merch store at the show. You might remember the 2-C on red Twangfest poster we printed last year. It was one of our very first posters so we are proud to have them return to print the 2010 poster. This is by far the creepiest ABNRML print we have done yet! This is the new poster for Stars' Thursday, June 3rd 2010 performance in Philadelphia, PA. The show is at the First Unitarian Church and is the kick off show of the new tour in support of their new album 'The Five Ghosts'. We were instructed to keep to the theme of the album for the poster design. We enlisted the design skills of T&A and they came up with this creepy 2-color print. Both the silver and gold were screened with metallic inks. Only 50 of these 19"x19" prints were screened and will be available at Stars' merch stand at the show and from ABNRML on our future web store! (yes, store!) ABNRML have been big fans of Stars for a long time so we are very pleased to produce this print! While albums ago, Set Yourself on Fire is still one of the best albums ever made. We have high hopes for the new one!

ABNRML buddies over at Neo-Pangea enlisted our assistance in producing some limited edition posters & shirts for some elite holiday business gifts. We held off on posting this until after the holidays as to not blow their secret gift cover! The shirts and prints were red and came packaged in custom screened boxes with matching colors. Neo has been a big supporter of ABNRML and designed our kick ass logo and website. We were more than happy to take part in their holidays and though the print came out real nice. Printed as a 1-color on red 18X25 French Paper cover stock.

T-Bone & Aljax / ABNRML 'Brothers Past NYE' Poster

Our very last poster for 2009 and our very first poster for 2010! Brothers Past live at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA on New Years Eve! This print was designed by T-Bone and Aljax & printed and brought to you by ABNRML. It is a 19"X25" 1-color silver metallic print screened by hand on heavy French Paper cover stock. The poster will come in two colors. The brick red version featured to the left and the deep forest green pictured below. The metallic silver ink (actual metal flakes!) on these posters looks fantastic and reacts in a very interesting way with 3D chromodepth glasses. This poster closes out a fantastic poster adventure year for ABNRML and the twins. We are looking forward to more collaborations with Brothers Past in 2010 as they take off with their upcoming album. The poster will be available their NYE show along with the few available copies of posters from their Bowery and Boat Cruise shows for those who are hoping to collect them all and might have missed one.

T-Bone & Aljax / ABNRML 'Gingham' Poster

The latest T-Bone and Aljax and ABNRML print is a special one. Gingham live at The Brass Lantern in Reading, PA on 12.26.09. Gingham is a group that has been performing together in the Reading area off and on for the last ten years. Gingham also happens to have a guitarist and singer who owns ABNRML. It has been a few years since there last performance so this is a bit of a reunion. To mark to occasion, this 19"X19" 3-color screen print was created. A very limited number of these guys were printed. Some on cream cordtone (pictured), some on white speckletone, some on green, some on black and all screened with love. Come to the show and check us and this fantastic print out!

Zomic 'King Khan & The BBQ' Poster

Zomic's King Khan & The Shrines poster from the church was one of the very first posters we printed. Chuck follows up that 2-color print with a very 'tasteful' 1-color print for their latest show at Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia, PA on November 1, 2009. This was printed on aged newspaper French Paper cover stock with a very limited number of prints. They just keep getting better and better. Behold the new 2-color Benevento Russo Duo screen print for their intimate performance at West Chester's The Note on November 6th, 2009. This amazingly detailed print is a 2-color on 19"X25" speckle tone wine French Paper cover stock. Designed by T-Bone and Aljax and printed by ABNRML, this special print features an additional glow in the dark screen to pop the moonlight in both glow in the dark and 3D for those with the appropriate spectacles. T-Bone & Aljax / ABNRML 'VHS or BETA' Cover

ABNRML recently got hooked into kick ass rock/new wave/pop sensations VHS OR BETA through our printing for DFA artist The Juan MacLean. VHS was looking for a new album cover for their upcoming single 'Feel It When You Know'. ABNRML quickly turned to fellow rock art lovers and creators T-Bone & Aljax to come up with something really special. The twins blew the band away and hopefully we'll be working on some other future covers for them. Keep your eyes peeled for this cover to work its way all over the web on blogs and news posts when the single is released.

Zomic 'FAR' Poster

Christmas colors for a Halloween print. We wouldn't expect anything less from poster designer Charles Moran of Zomic.org. This 3-color FAR print was screened on 12.5"x19" for FAR's October 23rd show at the Kung-Fu Necktie in Philadelphia, PA. It was printed on 80 lbs Speckletone White French Paper cover stock. This show continues Zomic's unique approach to screen printing. Each color separation, as with Cage and Mono, was drawn by hand directly on the vellums we use to create the screens which bypasses the computer process all together. The prints will be numbered, signed and sold at the show.

J Dub All Stars 'Os Mutantes' Poster

This is a 4-color screen print on 19"x25" French Paper for Brazilian music legends Os Mutantes and their show at the World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, PA on 10/5/09. This elaborate print was designed by John Warner of J Dub All Stars. We previously printed his Gemini Rising poster that can be seen in the posts below. Sara Wood 'Ra Ra Riot' Poster

Now here is a great band. Ra Ra Riot. Sara Wood, an up and coming artist in Philadelphia, recently connected up with us to print this 2-color Ra Ra Riot / Maps and Atlases / Princeton poster for their 10/3/09 Troc show in Philadelphia. This simple print really looks great and we are hoping Sara contracts us for her future poster work as well! This print was screened on white speckletone 19'X25" French Paper card stock with a very limited edition of 30 prints. ABNRML saw Ra Ra Riot open for Death Cab at the Tower and they were fantastic. Their newest album The Rhumb Line is something special.

We really like this print. ABNRML cohorts T-Bone & Aljax really outdid themselves with this design. As with many of these posts, the iphone photos don't do the print justice. The hair on this print is a beautiful purple that really pops off the 'jellybean green' French Paper cover stock. This 4-color Brothers Past print is for Brothers Past's Bowery Ballroom show in New York, NY on Saturday, September 26th 2009. We did a limited run of 100 prints and they will be available at the Bowery on the night of the show. The print are also included in the bands 'VIP' ticket package. We are really developing a great relationship with the bands and are excited about things to come. Much more to come.

Zomic 'MONO' Poster

The last week and next week are an exciting two for poster printing. We had/have prints going for Mono, Brothers Past, Ra Ra Riot and She Wants Revenge/6 O'clock Saints. Mono was our first bite of a excellent and stressful poster sandwich. This 4-color Mono print was printed on 19x25 French Paper "Newspaper " cover stock and cut down to size. As with Zomic's (Sir Charles Moran) last poster, an excellent Cage print featured below, Chuck drew directly on the vellums for each separate color of the print. The show is September 27th at the First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia, PA. Zomic will be there selling and signing this limited run of 60 prints. Obviously and as always, printed by ABNRML.

Zomic 'Cage' Poster

Our most recent poster adventure was an interesting one. ZOMIC.org's Sir Charles Moran connected up with ABNRML for a new CAGE print he was sketching out. After working with Chuck on a few prints (King Khan, Fugi Rock Fest), we decided we would experiment a bit. Chuck, like a lot of artists, hand draws a lot of his designs. Most of the time, those hand drawings get turned into digital files on a computer that are more easily manipulated and able to get print ready (this is not a bad thing!). With this specific print, we experimented by giving Chuck a few pages of high quality vellum (think tracing paper) to ink out each seperated color. This required Chuck to work pretty hard and we are very impressed with the results. We took his hand drawn vellums, burned them directly to screens and printed; circumventing digital goodness and computers all together. Like the old days of screening. It worked out great.

This 4-color print for rapper CAGE was screened on bright white Canson Bristol 96lb. paper and was a very limited run of 25 prints for Cage's show at the First Unitarian Church on July 30th, 2009 in Phildelphia, PA.
